B2 and LO2 Cricket Update
The B Grade are currently in finals contention in a tight race to make up the final two finals spots with 3 rounds to go. In recent game, in the final game prior to the Xmas break, a strong performance with the bat with a total of 338 got us over the line against Unley. Best performances were Anthony De Leonardis (78 runs off 44 balls) and Ryan Challis with 3 wickets. The first game back in the new year, the team weren’t able to close out the Adelaide University innings who ended with 292 runs, with Andrew Butler taking 5 wickets in a great performance with the ball. In reply with the bat, the team fell well short of the required total. The current round hasn’t started well, with the team putting out a below-par performance to lose the match on the first day. In the remaining rounds, strong team performances will be the key to give the team the chance to play finals.
The LO2 (One Day) team registered their inaugural win in the round just past which was great news for the team who had been edging closer with stronger performances in recent weeks. Highlights in recent games have been Rhys Gaylard’s consistent form with the bat (236 runs for season so far) and Dylan Tanner’s 55 runs and 4 wickets vs Sacred Heart OC.
The club still has our team in the Twenty20 competition, with the quarter final this coming Tuesday versus Unley at Flinders Park Oval. The team are looking to go a couple steps further in this years competition to take out the final.
