Flinders Park FC Red Alert - 16 January 2018
View this email in your browser
Hello 2018!

Welcome to the first issue of 'Red Alert' for 2018! This year promises to be our biggest yet with our newly promoted A grade cricketers performing well in the higher grade and in the thick of finals contention, and our senior football and netball squads back on deck and braving the heat this preseason with the hope of Premiership success in some 9 months time.

A special thank you to all members who attended the 2017 AGM in December, where some exciting achievements and developments were announced - headlined by the successful grant application for our new oval lighting to be installed in time for winter 2018. The profit and loss statement showed arguably our best ever year on record and we are now in the enviable position of being able to invest back into our members, which will be obvious every time you visit the club with some big improvements already and more on the way. Once again we are pleased to enter football teams at all levels of the SANFL Juniors structure, as well as two senior colts teams to go with our A, B, C and possibly D grades, along with our five senior netball teams. The strong playing numbers and all of our members, sponsors and supporters that follow them prove that we are a great place to be and a definite community club of choice in the Western suburbs of Adelaide. We look forward to seeing you soon - go the Reds!

Flinders Park Cricket Update

At the half way mark of the cricket season, the A Grade have been on a winning streak of late, recording 4 victories in a row which has the team sitting in 5th position on the ladder and marginally out of the Top 4. Some notable individual performances included Sam Cousins scoring 90 off 76 balls versus Pembroke OS in round 2. With the ball, Tom Kennewell has 18 wickets for the season with a per wicket bowling average of 14.94, which has him sitting in the Top 4 in the association.

The B Grade have been competitive in many of the games this season and registered their first win of the season against Old Scotch in the round before Christmas. Best performances with the Bat include Leigh Robertson with 83 not out versus Old Ignatians and Brad Christie with 82 versus Old Scotch. With the ball, a 3-way tie at the half way mark with Sid Doshi, Leigh Robertson and Tom Carey all with 10 wickets each.

The Limited Overs team, newly promoted to Division 1 of this format have had a sold start to the season, currently sitting 5th on the ladder. Some strong batting performances by Graham Crawford has him currently with 409 runs and leading the association currently, with a highest score of 124 versus Unley in Round 9. With the ball, captain Brett Featherby leads the way with 13 wickets.

With some exciting events in the coming weeks including the $1000 draw and Village Green Day, this provides a great opportunity to enjoy the sun show your support at Flinders Park
