Flinders Park Junior Cricket

Junior cricket is a big focus at Flinders Park over the summer months. Several improvements have been made over the last couple of years, including new change rooms, new training net facilities and a renovated centre wicket.

The club fields junior teams in both the Western Suburbs Junior Cricket Association (WSJCA) and the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association (ATCA). Most years will see the club having 8 or more teams across the different age grades:

  • U10, U12 and U14 participate in the WSJCA competition
  • U15 and U17 participate in the ATCA junior competition

The cricket season runs from mid-October through to early March, with a break over the summer school holidays.

U10, U12 and U14 games are mostly played on Sunday mornings (starting at 8:30am). Some U10 away games may also be played on Friday nights (starting at 5pm). U15 and U17 games are played on Sunday afternoons (starting at 12:30 or 1:00pm)

Flinders Park play our home games at the club using either the main (turf) oval or the smaller (hard-wicket) back oval. We are fortunate to also have the use of the Nazareth Middle School (turf) oval on Hartley Road as a secondary venue, allowing our U12 teams to experience turf cricket.

For U10, U12 and U14, away games will be played in the Western suburbs and surrounding areas. For U15 and U17 games might be played across the metropolitan Adelaide area.

Training is held on Friday nights and will usually start in late September.

NOTE:

  • SA government Sports Vouchers can be used for registration (applied during the payment step)
  • Part of the registration cost is an annual per-family Flinders Park club membership, which is waived for existing members (e.g. from football or netball) or for second and subsequent children. The discount code for this will be communicated via email to returning players. Please get in touch if you haven’t received this and believe it is applicable for you.
  • U10 is generally recommended for kids aged between 8 and 10. Younger children who are ready to start playing 20 over games, with a hard ball and protective gear are welcome to register for U10 at the discretion of parents
  • Flinders Park supports children playing at higher or lower age grades when appropriate. Please send us an email if you have any such requests.

Uniform, Kit and Merchandise

All grades wear cricket whites when playing games. The Flinders Park playing tops do look fantastic, but generic white cricket tops and pants (e.g. from Rebel sport) are fine.

All players who are new to the club will receive a Flinders Park cap.

Players are required to wear helmets, pads, gloves and a box while batting and will also need a bat. Although most players will choose to use their own equipment, each Flinders Park team has some club gear available for players to use who do not have their own.

Flinders Park branded cricket clothing is available from Sports Centre and can be ordered online at any time directly from Sports Centre. Other Flinders Park merchandise is also available.

Prior to the season starting, the club will put in a bulk order which will result in significant savings compared with regular prices. More details regarding this will be communicated via email when it is up and running.

Fixtures and game information

Fixtures, results and statistics are available through the Flinders Park PlayHQ website.

We also highly recommend installing the PlayCricket app, which contains the same information as the web site, and is also a great way to get directions to the various venues at which games are played.

This app can be installed from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Just search for “PlayCricket” and make sure it is provided by Cricket Australia.
